Water Information

On Thursday, the borough experienced a temporary failure in the SCADA system that controls certain processes at our water treatment plant. As a result, an increased but not harmful amount of chlorine was released into the water supply. The problem has been resolved but some people are reporting a residual chlorine smell in this water. We suggest that you run your tap for a bit if you smell chlorine. We are taking measures to reduce any residual chlorine in the system. This process may cause some slight discoloration of the water supply. Please observe your water and let it run clear prior to using for laundry purposes. If you have continuing concerns about your water, you may contact the Freehold Water Utility for further guidance at 732 462 3502. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue.
