The Freehold Public Library is an asset of Freehold Borough and serves as the free public library for the municipality’s residents.
The library has been in continuous operation since 1904. Built using funds provided by industrialist Andrew Carnegie, the structure is of the neoclassical style popular for public/government buildings of the day.
The library recently underwent a major renovation project (funded in part by the New Jersey Library Construction Bond Act) that improved accessibility and created more public space, while maintaining the building’s “Classic Carnegie Library” look and feel.
For more information, visit the library website at www.freeholdpubliclibrary.org, email
The Library Trustees meet at 7:00 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the library. Meetings may be held via remote access (Zoom) in the interest of the public health.
