Lake Topanemus Commission

The park has over four miles of crushed stone trails which is shared by runners, walkers, and bikers. It also has a 5K running course shared by cross country runners from Freehold Boro High School. A Cornell University report states that 149 species of birds currently visit the park, including eagles, owls and ospreys. The park includes a beautiful 20 acre lake that is shared by fisherman and boaters alike, recently a pedestrian bridge was installed to insure the safety of the fisherman, and plans to install a fishing pier with kayak docks is a future project. The lake is stocked with many varieties of fish approximately four times per year and is very popular among the many who fish the lake. Electric motors are prohibited on the lake. Gas powered motors are NOT prohibited on the lake.

Recently seven paddle boats were refurbished, and rented out on weekends to help support park projects. In recent years, projects completed included; building the bandshell, the installation of the infrastructure for the pedestrian bridge, the construction of a railed bridge over a marshy, almost impassable stretch of trail, the renovation of trails as well as the removal of a grove of spotted lantern fly infested trees. Future plans include: construction of an osprey nest, refurbishing of existing benches.
