The Registrar of Vital Statistics is charged with recording, maintaining and making available records of birth, marriage, death and domestic partnership occurring in Freehold Borough.  Copies of the following records may be obtained from the Registrar’s Office if the birth, death, marriage or domestic partnership occurred in Freehold Borough.

Marriage License
If the bride or groom is a Freehold Borough resident, the couple applies for their Marriage License in Freehold Borough at the Registrar’s Office, 30 Mechanic Street, Monday–Friday, 8:30–12noon or 2:00-4:00pm – Please call to make an appointment.

Applicants must bring with them:

• Driver's license or Passport
• Proof of residence
• Birth certificate
• Divorce Decree or Death certificate of previous spouse is required, if married before.
• One witness 18yrs or older with photo ID          
• $28.00 fee payable in cash, check or money order, made payable to, “Freehold Borough”.

Obtaining Birth, Death of Marriage Record
In accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order #18, only the following persons are entitled to a certified copy of a vital record:  subject, subject’s parent, legal guardian or legal representative, spouse, child, grandchild or sibling, if of legal age.

Must submit with your request:

• A copy of a photo ID showing your current address – OR
• On a photo ID without address, you must submit one other form of ID showing current address
• Proof of relationship of person named on the record you are requesting
