In the past decade or so, the law enforcement industry has come to realize the importance of community policing.  We've known this for much longer.

From foot patrols to bicycle safety seminars, the Freehold Borough Police Department has been investing in community policing long before the trend began.

Community policing is such an important component of any police department but it is especially vital in a town like Freehold Borough. People who live in a small-town environment like Freehold want to know their local officers and want to have several they feel comfortable calling with a question or concern.

Our efforts are bolstered by those of the Freehold Borough PBA, the fraternal organization of our officers.  Each year the PBA runs the Santa Train Event; they hold their annual Recognition Party honoring Freehold people and organizations; the have a stand at the Old Freehold Day festival; etc.

As with every other law enforcement agency, we have felt the impact of the recent economic downturn, but we've done our best to maintain an ambitious community policing program.  Below are some of our more well known efforts:

  • National Night Out
  • Tours of our Police Headquarters
  • Funeral Escorts
  • Bike Patrols
  • Annual Two-Week Youth Police Academy Program
  • Foot Patrols
  • Residential & Business checks
  • Meet the Chief Program
  • Speaker Bureau (Officers attend events and speak on various issues)
  • Annual Table at the Latino Festival Event
